Manchester United Open Concrete Talks To Sign Viktor Gyökeres
Manchester United have opened concrete talks with Sporting CP over the signing of striker Viktor Gyökeres. The Red Devils are now actively stepping up their pursuit of the Swedish international.
United are now actively involved in the potential signing of the 26 year old. However, no move for the striker is set to materialise until at least next summer's transfer window.
Ruben Amorim was named as one of the key reasons as to why Gyökeres joined Sporting. Although, the Portuguese boss isn’t the sole reason as to why United are pursuing the striker.
Club scouts have closely monitored the forward for some time but a potential move for the striker could be supported by Amorims recent arrival.
Gyökeres has scored 16 goals in 12 games in the Liga Portugal this season so far and has been on top form for both club and country.
Arsenal were heavily linked to the striker last summer, however a move never materialised and the striker remained in Portugal where he has continued his great form.
A number of reports now suggest that United are entering more concrete talks to sign the striker next summer due to rivals Manchester City also stepping up their interest.
Florian Plettenberg, a Sky Sports reporter from Germany stated in a new report;
“Manchester United have now made initial concrete talks regarding Viktor Gyökeres and a potential move in the summer. The Red Devils are now fully involved.
However, this will require sales first!
Manchester City have also intensified their efforts in recent days. Hugo Viana is currently pushing hard in the pursuit of Gyökeres.”
A number of top European clubs are pursuing a move for the in form striker but United may be best placed to land the forward.
Amorim will likely look to take control and shape his squad by next summer's transfer window and Gyökeres could be a centerpiece of his United squad.
